Textile printing is the process of applying color to fabric in definite patterns or designs. In properly printed fabrics the color is bonded with the fiber to resist washing and friction. This course instructs semi-experienced printmakers to explore textile screen printing to enhance their skills. This includes direction for large scale printwork on paper and/or fabric for their brand or personal work. Students will learn how to create repeat patterns with their images using non-toxic fabric ink and will be able to print on cotton fabric of one yardage. Inks appropriate for textile printing and proper ink mixing methods will also be explained. This is a new skill that can be easily done at home; it will be experimental, messy and hands on! There will be visual material for ideas provided by instructor. Students are encouraged to create images that reflect personal narrative and/or inspiration from their own culture, their completed print will be called “My Personal Culture/Narrative on Fabric.”

Deadline to sign up is Feb 8, 2018
