This course will explore the basics of papermaking with nature! We will begin the first session with a nature walk around the Frontline Arts grounds. Working with a variety of collected, harvested and sourced natural fibers — like iris, hosta and milkweed — artists will be introduced to methods, tools, equipment and techniques for Western papermaking, including the creation of pulp from these fibers. Beyond the basics, we will have ample time to experiment with multiple fibers, pigments and art-making techniques. You are encouraged to collect natural growth from your own gardens and/or the from the class nature walk. Flowers, grasses, and leaves will be included in the handmade paper. Beginners welcome and encouraged! All materials and tools are included but artists will be asked to bring a few items.
Deadline to sign up is June 26, 2018 @ 5pm
