Outdoor Monotype Compositions with Len Merlo
Saturday, May 22nd, 11am-5pm
Members: $90, Non-Members: $105, Material Fee: $30
Join artist Len Merlo and discover new ways of finding compositions for your work. Beginning with an exploration of the grounds surrounding Frontline Arts, participants will draw in their sketchbooks and collect interesting samples from nature. We’ll then create dynamic compositions from multiple angles and return to our outdoor studio to create monotypes using non-toxic Akua inks. Basic press operation will be taught along with foolproof registration systems for layering. We will use both direct ink application as well as reductive mark-making with found textures. This class is open to all skill levels, and is a great way to develop compositions and imagery for any artistic work.
Please remember that this workshop is outside and the weather is unpredictable. Dress accordingly. The rain date will be Sunday, May 23rd, 11am-5pm.
