Outdoor Letterpress with Len Merlo and Mike Stark

Have you ever thought about about having a small letterpress in your home? This workshop will cover the basics of letterpress printing with antique lead and wood type on a tabletop galley proof press. Each student will also have the option of carving a linoleum image to print. Students will learn how to create quick flats and hand-set type. Participants will ink their flats and type and operate the tabletop press, as well as troubleshoot and learn proper type cleaning techniques. Each participant will come away with a small, one or two color edition of prints. This class is open to all skill levels, and is a great way to learn the basics of letterpress.
Please remember that this workshop is outside and the weather is unpredictable. Dress accordingly. The rain date will be Sunday, June 6th, 11am-5pm.
