Two in One: Altering the Page Accordion Book and The Flexagon Book with Maria G. Pisano

This one day outdoor workshop explores two different book art techniques: The Flexagon Book, and the Alternating the Page Accordion Book.
The Flexagon Book is a movable book springs to life when opened, like a flower. We will use stencils and stamp pads to create our unique designs, and bring all together and bind this wonderful book. Once complete, we will be making a beautiful box enclosure to hold your book.
Alternating the Page Accordion Book: The accordion book structure is a flexible form that can be adapted to many book themes, and one is
the Altered Page Book. A blank page holds a lot of potential – one can alter it via folding, cutting, collaging, adding and subtracting parts, and more. Learn about sequencing, layering and folding to arrive at your pages. These in turn will be assembled to become part of an accordion book you’ve created with your unique designs. Do you acquire and save ephemera in your travels and daily life, do you have lots of beautiful papers and scraps that you saved for a special project, any old prints that you want to repurpose? We will use all your stored riches to collage the pages and create a new work to store them in.
No experience required! Open to all experience levels.
Please remember that this workshop is outside and the weather is unpredictable. Dress accordingly. The rain date will be Sunday, June 27th, 11am-5pm.

Basic Bookbinding Kit:
-Self-healing mat, no smaller than 12" x 8.5
-Small snap blade knife (small Olfa knife)
-7" high plastic or metal triangle
-Stick glue
-Small scissors
-Pencil and Eraser
-12" metal ruler
-Bone folder
-Collage materials for the Alternating the Page Accordion Book
