Spend a Saturday creating one of a kind screenprints using a variety of techniques with water-based inks. We will cover the screenprinting process, including creating positives through digital and analog means, screen exposure and preparing your print set-up. We’ll then demonstrate different ways to utilize your water-based inks, playing with blends, transparency and strategic placement on screen to achieve an array of effects, both painterly and graphic. There will be studio time where students can practice and build on these techniques to create a suite of their own unique prints. Additionally, we’ll create collaborative monotypes with a print from each of our screens to discuss and exchange at the end of the day. This workshop is great for beginner printers to get familiar with the process and gives experienced printers an alternative approach to image-making.
