“English Style” Collagraph Prints with Len Merlo
Saturday, April 13th, 11am-4pm

In this course, artists will learn how to combine rich tonalities and textures with the mysterious effects of Collagraph (Relief) and Drypoint (Intaglio) techniques. Participants will prepare, create, and print two plates that use both relief and intaglio methods.
All materials, mediums, and clean-up materials used in this course will be non-toxic, and they will fulfill the mission of our non-toxic and environmentally safe initiative.
Students provide:
Various types of different-weight papers. Cereal box, tissue box, thin cardboard, and other collage materials. (netting, string, thread, etc.)
Heavy and light printmaking paper scraps, all work well
Paper towel roll
Approx. 8-12 various-size brushes
Sketch, drawing, or idea for imagery for 2 plates: can be abstract or realistic or a combination of both.
About the Instructor:
Len Merlo is a full time artist and activist living and working in South Plainfield, NJ. He has 25 years of experience teaching art in NJ Public Schools and has taught workshops in ceramics, sculpture and printmaking. He served on the Board of Directors at The Print Center of New Jersey, and The Arts Guild of New Jersey. He is also a member and workshop instructor a Frontline Arts.
